This month saw our celebrity chef Aldo Zilli launch an exciting new feature menu ‘Giro d’Italia’ (tour of Italy). Aldo toured selected San Carlo and Cicchetti restaurants, cooking up the regional specials for an eager gathering of foodies and press. Available at Cicchetti Manchester and London and Flying Pizza at Roundhay, each month the Giro d’Italia menu will feature a different region of Italy, exploring the culinary specialities unique to its location. The specials menu comprises several strictly authentic dishes crafted from seasonal ingredients flown in from the featured region. June’s launch took us on a gastronomic tour of Aldo Zilli’s home, Abruzzo. Thought to be the greenest part of Italy, Abruzzo stretches from the heart of the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea, covering a wild and mountainous terrain. With a rich culinary tradition; our Abruzzo dishes feature sea fare, lamb, locally produced meats, sausages, chick peas, aubergine, fresh pasta and some excellent locally produced wines. July sees us take a delicious tour of Group chairman Carlo Distefano’s place of birth, Sicily. Highly recommended, Giro d’Italia is a must for foodies.
