Italian food is the gold standard of dining out. In these days of deliberately wacky food ‘concepts’, where you might be expected to quaff your drink from a water pistol or blindfold your partner before dinner is served, Italian cuisine is a reassuring defence of traditionalism.
“For someone with a food allergy, going to a restaurant could be a potentially life-threatening experience, especially if staff working there do not know what is in each dish. For someone with a food allergy, going to a restaurant could be a potentially life-threatening experience, especially if staff working there do not know what is in each dish. That is why new rules will soon make it compulsory for food businesses to provide allergy information, as part of a major change in the way both packaged and non-packaged food is labelled.”

“Bosses of Italian restaurant group San Carlo are about to unveil their new restaurant and cocktail bar concept Fumo – and we had a first look at what diners can expect.
The spectacular 5,500 square foot venue at the newly-built 1 St Peter’s Square is a fifth city site for the family-owned business, and food will follow a similar style to its Cicchetti restaurant on King Street.”
“The fifth site in Manchester city centre, delivered in a similar fashion to their Cicchetti restaurant, Fumo is a brand new restaurant and cocktail bar from the established Italian group San Carlo.”

Italy’s food culture is a strong investment for us Brits. Unlike our sometimes slack approach to opening hours, the Italians understand the importance of strong round-the-clock service. And duly Cicchetti, meaning small dishes in Italian, is open from 7am to midnight 365 days of the year.
Cicchetti is Italian for sharing plates. Smaller servings placed in the centre of the table to encourage a communal eating environment. Cicchetti opened their newest branch on Wellington St in Covent Garden last month
