Liverpool’s popular San Carlo restaurant will break with tradition by opening for breakfast during Aintree.

Champagne, Classic Bellini’s and breakfast Martini’s will top the bill on a menu which ranges from a classic full English with locally sourced sausages and bacon, to scrambled eggs with caviar and lobster.

An Italian twist will be given to poached eggs served on focaccia with avocado and bacon, all accompanied by a superb selection of home made breads, exquisite pastries and fresh fruit.

The stylish venue in Castle Street, a haunt for celebrities and top sporting personalities, will open its doors at 8.30am on Friday 9th April and Saturday 10th offering race goers’ one of the best starts to the day during this highlight in the sporting calendar.

San Carlo has been shortlisted in this year’s Pride of Manchester Awards which recognise the cream of the city’s restaurants, bars, theatres, hotels, musicians, authors and movie makers.

The popular Italian dining and celebrity haunt in King Street West was one of 335 restaurants voted for by members of the 56,000 strong Pride of Manchester Group-the city’s largest What’s On guide.

San Carlo is renowned for its superb authentic Italian cuisine and speciality fish dishes, has sister restaurants in Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Leicester and London.

The results will be announced on March 15th.

Birmingham’s popular San Carlo restaurant in Temple Street has taken its award-winning formula to the Middle East opening a stunning new restaurant in Kuwait.

The 158 cover Italian restaurant, which also has a private room that seats 32, is located on Gulf Road, beside the Kuwaiti Towers and is already taking the city’s restaurant goers by storm.

Named after San Carlo Group’s London venue in fashionable Knightsbridge Green, ‘Signor Sassi’ is part of the ambitious expansion plans of the family business which just seven months ago signed a partnership agreements with the giant Americana Group to open restaurants in 22 countries throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

Director Marcello Di Stefano said they were committed to the same exacting standards set throughout their UK outlets which also include Manchester, Bristol and Leicester and would settle for nothing but the highest quality.

“Italians are known for their love of good food and the buzzing lively atmosphere of their restaurants.

“We have taken these principles to the Middle East and we are passionate about sharing the Signor Sassi magic.”

As in all San Carlo Group restaurants fresh fish will be a speciality, complemented by home made pastas and authentic Italian pizzas.

Another Signor Sassi restaurant is due to open in Kuwait’s 360 Mall before the end of the year while other locations for the brand include Dubai, Riyadh and Cairo.

In the UK, San Carlo is preparing for the opening of a new restaurant in Liverpool and the introduction of the brand to Guernsey.

Birmingham’s leading Italian restaurant San Carlo is paying tribute to 700 years of viticulture with an exclusive consignment of Italy’s oldest wine.

Diners at the classy eatery in Temple Street can now order Kardio Fulax, an exquisite red wine first cultivated by the Piceni tribe before the arrival of the Ancient Greeks, from its extensive wine list.

San Carlo, part of the UK-wide San Carlo group, has relied on its 15 years’ experience in wine buying to select a limited stock as the perfect complement to its authentic traditional and modern cuisine.

A blend of luscious Montepulciano, San Giovese and Barbera grapes from the hills of Cologna in Abruzzo, Kardio Fulax is produced exclusively by Scialetti, one of Italy’s oldest wine houses, using the natural ‘blanchere’ method of the Piceni, who were assimilated into the Romans.

Just 500 litres of the wine are produced each year from grapes that are left on their vines until the end of October before being picked and left to ferment in small barrels naturally without the use of any sulphates.

Each bottle of Kardio Fulax, which translates from ancient Picenian as ‘The Guardian of the Heart’, carries a label that is handcrafted in brass with an image of a shield.
