April, 2026: Iconic family-run Italian restaurant group, San Carlo, is set to launch Art of San Carlo this spring – a new cultural initiative that brings together art, community and hospitality, transforming San Carlo’s restaurants into a living gallery.
Launching on Tuesday 28th April at San Carlo Bristol on Corn Street, the evening event will mark the beginning of a wider national programme, with Bristol chosen as the first city in a series set to roll out across key cultural destinations including Birmingham, Leeds and London.
At the heart of the Bristol edition is a collaboration with the Bristol School of Art, where students responded to a brief exploring shapes, patterns and contrasting lines to express both objects and abstract ideas, resulting in a diverse collection of work from emerging artists.

The winning artist, Sienna Kenniston, has been recognised for her emotionally driven piece. It stood out for its raw intensity and powerful interpretation of the brief. Her work will be unveiled on the night alongside two standout runners-up. Ashleigh Ford’s bold and progressive approach demonstrates a striking confidence in expression. Hafsa Mohamoud’s work is defined by a playful use of colour and form, bringing a vibrant and exploratory quality.

All three pieces will go on to be exhibited within the restaurant, remaining on public display and available for purchase, offering a meaningful commercial platform for emerging artists at an early stage in their careers.

Further enriching the space, San Carlo has commissioned two permanent works from Bristol-based artist Connie Celeste, adding to the restaurant’s evolving collection and reinforcing its commitment to supporting both emerging and established local talent. Alongside this, a new partnership with Clifton Fine Art will see a rotating programme of curated exhibitions installed

within the restaurant, with each piece available to buy-creating an accessible bridge between dining and collecting.
With its focus on creativity, community and cultural connection, Art of San Carlo represents a natural evolution of the brand’s identity. It embeds art into its spaces in a way that feels both considered and dynamic and will create environments that feel culturally alive.
Marcello Distefano, CEO San Carlo Group commented: “Art has always played a meaningful role in the atmosphere of our restaurants, and with Art of San Carlo we’re bringing that connection to the forefront. Bristol is the perfect city to begin this journey a place where creativity, community, and culture are part of its everyday rhythm. We’re incredibly proud to showcase the work of emerging artists and to give them a platform that sits at the heart of our spaces. As Art of San Carlo expands across the UK, we look forward to celebrating local talent in every city we call home.”
